🏠 Radon Testing Kits

Protect your family from the second leading cause of lung cancer — test your home for radon today.

⚠️ Nebraska has some of the highest radon levels in the nation. The EPA estimates that 1 in 5 Nebraska homes has radon levels above the action level. Testing is the only way to know if your home is safe.

What Is Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring, colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas that forms from the natural decay of uranium found in soil and rock. It can enter homes and buildings through cracks in floors, walls, and foundations, accumulating to dangerous levels indoors.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, responsible for approximately 21,000 deaths annually. The only way to know if radon is present in your home is to test for it.

  3. Keep windows and doors closed for at least 12 hours before and during the test.
  4. Mail the test device to the lab using the pre-addressed envelope included.
  5. Receive your results by mail or email within 1–2 weeks.

What If My Levels Are High?

The EPA recommends taking action if radon levels are at or above 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). If your results are above this level, a qualified radon mitigation contractor can install a ventilation system to reduce radon levels — typically to below 2 pCi/L. The average cost is $800–$2,500 and may increase your home’s resale value.
